From the Author

In her first book, 15 MINUTES, ex-teen TV and reality star, Maizie Albright, returns home to Black Pine, Georgia, determined to start a new career as a private investigator, modeled after her childhood starring role in Julie Pinkerton: Teen Detective. For a license in Georgia, she needs training and there's only one gumshoe in Black Pine: Wyatt Nash of Nash Security Solutions. He's got a hard body, Paul Newman eyes, and no interest in having an ex-actress for an apprentice. Unbeknownst to Maizie, the reality show cast of All is Albright and her stage-monster manager also follows her to Georgia. Maizie's got a big learning curve to overcome--not only in private investigations but also in life as a non-celebrity--but an optimistic disposition, years of therapy, and donuts will help her become the independent thinker her manager always hoped she wouldn't become.I truly believe with the right attitude and donuts, you can "make it happen" just like Maizie.xoxoLarissa

I listened to 15 Minutes, a Maisie Albright Star Detective mystery, by Larissa Reinhart as an audio book. I began early one morning and listened on and off all day and I was hooked with not only the story, but also the media! The title of this first in a series story, 15 Minutes, refers to the “15 minutes of fame”, an expression made notable by Andy Warhol.

Maisie has moved back to her hometown of Black Pine, Georgia, to live with her dad, Boomer Spayberry, the deer nose king and owner of a major “Outdoor Man” type business. Her move home is multifaceted. She’s trying to get away from Vicki, her manager/mother, who has ruled her life since her parents’ divorce and their move to Hollywood. As a child star, Maisie has awards and fame as her portrayal of Julia Pinkerton, Girl Detective. Having been managed through it all, Maisie has no access to her earnings. As a former child star the next step Vicki took was a reality series that followed Maisie as she attended college to get a degree in criminology. However, when the boyfriend Vicki had paired Maisie with is arrested as a drug seller, Maisie is caught in the middle of the fray and charged as an accessory. Her probation deal was to get out of Hollywood, stay out of the tabloids, and show evidence of a real job. Now back in Black Pine, Maisie is pursuing getting a job with Nash Securities, the only true licensed private investigator in town.

Though the initial meeting, well several after that, do not go very well, Maisie wins over the gruff, but handsome, detective, and slowly becomes a part of his investigation. However, in her first assignment she fails and the woman she was supposed to be keeping an eye on disappears. As the investigation unfolds, though, it seems it is Maisie who keeps uncovering the majority of leads. When bodies begin turning up and Maisie is threatened and hit over the head, her new boss, Wyatt Nash, instructs her to stay at her father’s house to protect her as he follows the leads to Savannah. Thwarting those trying to keep her on property, Maisie enlists the help of the beauty salon crew she recently met and it is road trip to Savannah.

Although upset that Maisie disregarded him, it is Nash’s saving grace that she is there. As the mystery unfolds and the culprit is exposed, Nash and Maisie find themselves in more than one awkward position as they team up to stop a murderer.

This is a well orchestrated mystery with likable, and sometimes zany, characters. I have found a new series and a new method of “reading” books. I look forward to continuing both the series and and mode! I did enjoy this book and I do recommend it!

Maisie Albright starred as a teen detective in a few series. Now an adult, the judge in California orders her back to her small hometown in Black Pine, Georgia, giving her two weeks to find a job. Maisie is a hoot of a character and a chatterbox who could talk the ears off of an elephant! She decides she wants to become a detective, and needs time with a seasoned detective to get her credentials. She decides on Nash Security Solutions, the one detective agency in town, but Nash doesn’t agree. She tasks herself to tail a possibly cheating wife when the husband cancels their contract. Of course she loses her and the woman disappears! This kicks of an incredible and exciting adventure involving Nash! A fun and entertaining book.

15 Minutes (A Maizie Albright Star Detective Story, #1) by Larissa Reinhart is a fun fast-paced mystery.
Maizie Albright is a former child star who, has recently graduated from college. After a stint in rehab for substance abuse, must follow the protocol of her parole. This includes getting and keeping a new job and staying out of Hollywood. She moves back home with her rich father in a beautiful forested Georgia setting. The town is a mix of old and new, and the characters Maizie meets are amusing. She gets a job as an assistant with a private investigator, and she is determined to be the best she can be.
Her adjustment to the real world is not an easy one. She gets punched in the nose at a beauty parlour; her Jaguar gets repoed, she gains 5lbs from her stepmother's awesome soul-food, and her mother-business manager is still trying to force her unwillingly into the limelight.
Told in first person, this story had me chuckling out loud. Mysteries are usually not on my reading list, but this one was an absolute perfect blend of humour, interesting characters, fast-moving plot, and all without the sticky sweetness of requited romance.
Imagine if Britney Spears gave up her wealthy lifestyle, had a nervous breakdown, moved to a small town and got a job at the local Walmart. It would be interesting to see her reactions to every day normal non-famous people, through her point of view. That is a bit what Maizie is like. She's lovable and pitiful and worth rooting for!

Romantic comedies are difficult to find and good that we have a stunner here. After a long time, I read a romcom that’s also a mystery thriller. The blurb tells you very little, there is so much more to this book which you won’t be able to put down till you finish it. Larissa had written something which I can easily see being turned into a movie. This reminded me of Lusie aasen type of romantic comedy which is so similar.

I really enjoyed the subtleties of the main character in this book. Maisie was an A Lister who is a bit of a neurotic mess. Despite that she still manages to bumble her way through her first mystery to reach a successful conclusion.
